The short version
plainterview uses AI to conduct the first-round chat interview and to summarize it. It does not score candidates, rank them, or decide who gets hired. A human reads every transcript and makes every decision. That is a promise, not a setting.
Where AI is used
Three places: generating a first draft of interview questions from your job description and the candidate's CV; conducting the chat itself (asking questions, deciding when to follow up and when to move on); and writing a short summary of each finished transcript. You can edit the questions before anything is sent.
Where AI is not used
We do not produce a hireability score, a personality profile, a ranking, or any automated “pass/fail” signal. We do not analyze video, voice, or facial expressions. There is no algorithm deciding for you, because there is no algorithm we would trust to.
Candidates always know
Candidates are told they are chatting with an AI before the interview begins — it is not disguised as a person. The chat is text-based and asynchronous, so candidates answer in their own time.
AI can be wrong
The questions, follow-ups, and summaries are generated by large language models and can contain mistakes, miss context, or phrase things awkwardly. Treat them as a starting point for your own judgment. Always read the actual transcript, not just the summary, before forming a view of a candidate.
Fairness
Because no model decides outcomes, plainterview does not introduce an automated scoring step into your hiring. You remain responsible for fair, lawful, and non-discriminatory hiring practices. We give every invited candidate the same questions and the same chance to answer.
